Applications Engineering Manager (AGV)

Job Overview

The Bastian Solutions Autonomous Vehicles Applications Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the applications team. The Applications Engineering Manager will oversee all facets of Application Engineering and Solution Development, while providing input and assistance to the marketing staff to produce literature, strategic market planning and penetration of new accounts, management of existing customer accounts and general management of the Application and Account Engineers. This role will have a close working relationship with the entire management team at Bastian Solutions – Autonomous Vehicles, including General Manager, Accounting, Engineering Leads, etc. The Applications Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Applications. The Applications Engineering Manager’s success will depend largely on his/her communication, leadership, organization, and technical skills.

Job Functions

• Work with internal (Bastian Solutions) and external customers to continuously improve morale, communication and working relationship.
• Promotes BAV’s capabilities to all Bastian Solutions and Dealer sales channels.
• Works with their team to develop applications that compliment Bastian Solutions’ other material handling offerings.
• Develops and presents content for BAV Sales and Applications Training to all Bastian Solutions and Dealer sales channels.
• Mentors new Application Engineers that come on board as well as lead our existing Application Engineers. Works with them with positive reinforcement to build confidence and ability to be self-sufficient in their solution development work.
• Maintains a consistently positive, enthusiastic culture to work in.
• Hold Application Engineers accountable to promised commitments to internal and external customers.
• Review and approve of all designs, proposals and estimates delivered to customers by the applications group.
• Follow the financial guidelines set for Bastian Solutions
• Analyze opportunity to determine appropriate margin for specific projects and coordinate with Applications staff. Larger opportunities communicate margin goals with Director of Applications.
• Performs annual performance evaluations for all direct reports in the Applications Group. Includes writing the evaluation and charting goals and accomplishments for the Applications Group. Direct reports are Application Engineers.
• Involved with opportunities early on to ensure our team comes up with innovative and cost-effective solutions for our customers.
• Meets and exceeds our customer’s expectations through superior solutions and general communication. Measuring stick will be our Client Relationship Survey.
• Be a great team player and contributor within the office.
• Maintains the office area clean and organized.
• Completes all administrative tasks and paperwork in timely manner.
• Works well with engineering, operations, and manufacturing. Helps wherever is needed.
• Be a well-respected, strong leader (Direct Manager Surveys)

Travel Requirements

• 20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• B.S. of Engineering required. Master’s Degree in Business or Engineering or P.E. a plus.
• Ability to lead and inspire others on team to maximize their potential.
• Strong technical applications background with proven ability to penetrate new accounts.
• Experience to generate strategic marketing plan and ability to execute said plan. Plan includes but is not limited to new target industries/accounts, web-site content, print literature, and customer e-mail blasts.
• Expert in using and managing the CRM system. All solution development activities by team to be tracked in CRM. Solution development activities to include leads, opportunities, proposals and management of accounts.
• Strong contributing member of BAV management staff. Freely offer suggestions and take on responsibilities to continue to grow our company.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
